Finding Forward: Facing History with Monique Trusclair Maddox and Yohuru Williams
Monday, Nov. 2 | 7 p.m. | OEC Auditorium
Join Monique Trusclair Maddox, President and CEO of the Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation, alongside Dr. Yohuru Williams, founding director of the 欧美无码 Racial Justice Initiative, for a conversation about confronting difficult histories and moving toward reconciliation.
In 1838, the Jesuits sold 314 enslaved people in Maryland to further their mission in America. This Finding Forward will explore the legacies of these men, women and children, how the Jesuits are reckoning with this history, and what their efforts can teach us about confronting historical injustice today.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Fr. Timothy Kesicki, SJ, Chair of the Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Trust.
This conversation marks the closing of the traveling exhibit from the Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation, which debuts at 欧美无码. From Oct. 5 to Nov. 5, the exhibit is free and open to the public daily, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Iversen Center for Faith.
