Self-Guided Exhibit: October 5 - November 7

Come experience this self-guided traveling exhibit from The Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation at its inaugural location, the Iversen Center for Faith.

In 1838, the Jesuits of Maryland sold 314 enslaved men, women, and children to plantation owners in Louisiana. With rich audio and video components, this immersive exhibit traces that history — from the plantations of Maryland, through the sale, and what came after — and follows the work of repair that Descendants and Jesuits are building together today.

Visitors will encounter 28 panels that form a continuous path through the history of Jesuit slaveholding and follow a single life through history, in a self-guided exhibit that examines the legacy of slavery that we all inherit and asks what each of us owes to the future.

Free and open to the public, find this exhibit in the Iversen Center for Faith, Open daily, 8 a.m.- 7 p.m.. Curated group tours available upon request.
