The world as we know it is becoming more complex every day. International studies at the Å·ÃÀÎÞÂë of Å·ÃÀÎÞÂë provides you with knowledge and skills from political science, economics and history to tackle the biggest issues affecting our world today.
International studies is interdisciplinary by utilizing skills and knowledge from economics, history, political science and foreign languages to address complex problems in the world. As part of our program, you will develop your own area of expertise through courses, research, internships and study abroad in consultation with the program director. Our graduates have geared their studies to pursue careers in academia, government agencies, international business and law.
In addition to completing a set of core courses, students choose a concentration in political science, economics or history (16 credits) to develop expertise in a primary field of interest. They also complete 12 credits of coursework from the other two disciplines, ensuring a broad, interdisciplinary perspective. Students complement their coursework with advanced study in a foreign language and work closely with the program director to tailor their academic plan to their interests and career goals.
We recommend that students begin with the core courses in political science, economics, history and geography while working on their foreign language requirements concurrently. These core courses often help students identify their preferred area of concentration. Students are encouraged to connect with the program director early to develop a four-year plan.

Valerie is currently in Tel Aviv, Israel on a Fulbright Scholarship pursuing a master’s degree in security and diplomacy studies. Her interest in the degree stems from her 2016 summer internship with the German Marshall Fund in Washington, D.C., where she worked with a team analyzing Russian cyberwarfare strategies. Her international studies and political science majors, along with her fluency in Russian and Ukrainian, have given her expertise to thrive in this field of study and work.
